Featured in The Knot: Greystone Wedding

I was excited to see my wedding in the Spring/Summer 2013 edition of the knot - it's always wonderful to see how a vision comes together and to see my happy bride and groom!

Scanned images are below. Please read my blog post, Garden to Table, to see even more pictures from this beautiful wedding!

Holiday Wedding

The time between the end of November and January 1 is pretty crazy - but it's also a great time to get married! Everyone is in the mood to celebrate, and what better reason than to gather for a wedding.

This early December wedding kept the color palette simple - white with deep wine velvety cloths for the reception - and on a very cold and windy early winter day, it was perfect.

Especially lovely was the Washington Memorial Chapel in Valley Forge National Historical Park - gorgeous!

Flowers pictured include: hydrangea, snapdragon, wax flower, stock, calla lilies, monidal roses, gardenias,  ranunculus, Israeli ruscus, salal.

Pinked

Pink is a very popular color for weddings. It's fresh, it's versatile, it's very flattering, and there are many flowers available year-round in all shades, ranging from the palest blush to the sharpest cerise.

For this wedding, I added the softness of astilbe and wax flower to break the rather structural/molded look of the snapdragon. The centerpieces were comprised of a single arrangement surrounded by three different vases of different mixed flowers. The look was full and lush and bridal - just what the bride was hoping for!

Flowers pictured include: hydrangea, snapdragon, astilbe, dark engagement pink roses, pink spray roses, sweet eskimo roses, wax flower, limonium, larkspur, salal.

Out of the Blue

As I said before, blue has been very popular this year!

Just a glimpse at a few bouquets and an altar arrangement for a late summer/early fall wedding. Delphinium, often temperamental, is stunning when it's perfect - and this crop was - and the gardenias in the bridal bouquet were pretty spectacular as well.

My favorite view of this wedding is that of the altar arrangement against the stunning cobalt of the stained glass. Nothing is prettier on a clear, sunny day.

Flowers pictured include: blue delphinium, white hydrangea, green hydrangea, gardenias, white mondial roses, white spray roses, salal.

Clouds

Rather surprisingly, blue has been quite a popular color this year - and especially the specific color combination of blue and white.

Another surprise has been the resurgence of baby's breath. After years of (rather harsh) banishment from the world of 'good taste', baby's breath is back. What works best is not using it in a mixed arrangement so popular in the 70s in 80s, but using it as it grows in the garden: in dense, bush-like quantities.

The effect is pretty cool and for a hot early fall day, the look is lacy, ethereal, and natural - the baby's breath arrangements are cloud-like across the room.

Flowers pictured include: baby's breath, white hydrangea, blue hydrangea, white vendela roses.
